This year marks the third year of Community Leaps, a multi-tiered dance education program that provides subsidized dance enrichment opportunities for Inner City schools across Toronto.
In April 2007 we completed our second year of in-school EXPRESS DANCE Residencies as part of the Community Leaps program. Kaeja d'Dance dancers lead a class of students, from two underprivileged schools, in five half-day workshops. The dancers had the opportunity to work intensively with the students, allowing them to fully explore the EXPRESS DANCE approach, and ultimately developing a choreography that the students can use in future school concerts and presentations.
This year, Community Leaps reached over 1,600 students through subsidized matinee tickets, taught 115 EXPRESS DANCE workshops and Teacher workshop
Kaeja d’Dance would like to gratefully acknowledge the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, an Anonymous Donor through the Toronto Community Foundation, and our project partners: the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board.
