Established in 2001, KdD2 is a Kaeja d'Dance project
of emerging professional dancers, mentored by Co-Artistic Directors,
Allen and Karen Kaeja. The KdD2 initiative provides experience
for eight dancers early in their careers to make the transition from
their training program to a professional career as a dance artist.
The dancers will become well-rounded performers through ongoing education & training, including the basics of stage management, costume
maintenance, touring protocol and teaching. KdD2 works
simultaneously with the education system, the local arts presenter,
and arts communities that are established in the regions to which
they tour.
As well as touring, KdD2 reaches out to local public
and performing arts schools in the Greater Toronto Area. They perform
matinee and evening performances for students and the general public,
and facilitate educational experiences such as lecture-demonstrations,
classes, and discussions with the choreographer and Company members.
They also instruct workshops with teachers and students in the EXPRESS
DANCE approach. KdD2 was formed with the generous financial support
of the George Cedric Metcalf Foundation, the Ontario Trillium Foundation,
the Ontario Arts Council, and an anonymous donor. KdD2 BIOS
