ABOUT PORCH VIEW DANCES 2020: Online

Our ninth annual PVD was reimagined for 2020 as a livestream where we premiered 17 NEW commissions - short dance videos made by some of this community's amazing choreographers, held a participatory Flock Landing offering and a post-show Q & A!

Missed the livestream? Catch it here until August 30, 2020!

REAL PEOPLE DANCING IN REAL SPACES

Traditionally, PVD pairs professional choreographers with community members to reveal stories of lives lived through original dances performed on their front porches and yards. For 2020, we invited all of our past Porch View Dances choreographers to bring their own personal stories alive on their porches, balconies, and front yards. You are guaranteed an intimate view of who these brilliant artists are, as they unearth and capture this moment in time with their families and co-habitants.

HOW IT WORKS

This performance took place on July 30, 2020.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL LAND

Kaeja d’Dance would like to acknowledge that we are situated upon traditional territories. Our artists, collaborators, staff and team are grateful to be creating art on this land that has been nurtured by recorded and unrecorded human activity for by thousands of years. We honour and respect the traditional lands and waterways of the Wendat, Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and the Métis Nation. We are in the 'Dish with One Spoon' territory - a treaty between these nations reflecting a commitment to share the territory and protect the land. We also recognize the enduring presence of diverse Indigenous peoples on this land.
