Porch View Dances: Ottawa

In 2015 and 2016, Kaeja partnered with the Canada Dance Festival to bring PVD to Ottawa.

During the summer of 2015, Allen worked with the Hume family in Westboro to choreograph a porch dance, and Ottawa-based choreographer Anik Bouvrette of Tara Luz Dance worked with the Baker-Craze family. Mocean Dance choreographed and performed vignettes.

In 2016, the program expanded to include three porch dances. Ottawa choreographers Sioned Watkins and Renata Soutter joined Anik Bouvrette and Karen and Allen in creating pieces with local community members. Kate Franklin choreographed the vignettes. This year’s community participants were the Crangle/Martin family, a combined team of the Dunlop/Trudeau family and the Jacole family, and the returning Hume family.

As always, the PVD performances in both years concluded with a Flock Landing, an inclusive participatory group dance.
