BECOME A CERTIFIED KAEJA ELEVATIONS® TEACHER
Kaeja Elevations® (KE) is an approach to partnering where all genders, experience and physique are on a level playing field. Rooted in contact improvisation, KE relies on the architectural structure of two bodies interacting while complimented by gravity, momentum, propulsion, breath and flow. Best suited for Grades 6-12 and art schools.
In this 5-day course, you will get the tools you need to teach students and dancers to work collectively to safely soar through the air and surpass their expectations.
All certified teachers receive the following:

Ability to advertise themselves as a certified KE teacher
A listing on our website highlighting them as a registered KE teacher
Online access to our digital KE video library including: tutorials, demonstrations, and KE in performance

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
Allen Kaeja is an internationally recognized and award-winning Choreographer and Dance Film Director, who has created over 160 stage works and choreographed for 28 films. Allen is Co-Artistic Director of Kaeja d’Dance with Karen Kaeja, and he is co-founder of the CanAsian Dance Festival. His stage and film works have been presented in festivals around the world. Allen has received numerous national and international commissions, and teaches Kaeja Elevations and Dance Film master classes worldwide. He just completed a new dance film for Bell Media and Marqueearts. He and Karen spent the last year in Israel, China, Japan, Mexico and the UK.
Allen’s awards include the prestigious Clifford Lee, KM Hunter, and Fleck Choreography Awards (Canada), the Bonnie Bird Award (UK), a UNESCO citation, and he was recently nominated for Ontario’s Arts Education Award and received the Katheryn Ash Award for Choreography. Allen also co-developed many site-specific and audience interactive engagement performance strategies with Karen Kaeja over the past 30 years.
Allen Kaeja places great emphasis on education, having taught over 40,000 professional and amateur learners worldwide in workshops over the past 30 years. These include: Kaeja Elevations, Improvisation, Creative Dance, Contact Dance, Dance Film and Choreography. Allen and Karen were the first teachers of Contact Dance at the National Ballet School, they are on faculty at the School of the Toronto Dance Theatre, and Allen has been on faculty at Ryerson University since 2002. He teaches in most schools with dance programs throughout Metro TO. Their book EXPRESS DANCE: Educators’ Resource to Teaching Dance is a recommended book for the Ontario Dance Curriculum. Kaeja is in their 10th partnership agreement with the Toronto District School Board and received four “Acknowledgements of Excellence” over the past eight years. Allen was also nominated for the 2015 Ontario Arts Foundation Artist Educator Award and the Kaejas were finalists in the TD Diversity Award.
