Commissioned by Scenkonst Sörmland for Jaberi Dance Theatre and now making its Canadian premiere after touring Sweden, the work traces intimate stories of hope, loss, and connection. Architecture of Violence reveals how people rebuild within and against structures of surveillance and control. Globally resonant and timely, it reveals shared struggles across cultures and geographies, inviting audiences into a threshold of reflection and reckoning.

IM/Balance explores the elusive nature of equilibrium. We live in dualities, constantly negotiating between stability and instability, certainty and uncertainty, control and surrender. The work traces the fine line between balance and disarray, revealing the quiet labour of finding ground as it slips in and out of reach. Responding to shifting internal and external forces, the body becomes both question and compass, continually seeking equilibrium in a world that never stands still.

The polar bears, humpback whales, seals, walruses and birds surrendered to us. This was without a doubt Karen’s most incredible artistic research experience to date.
