Clearing takes flight!

Waking up one morning in quiet solitude to a lush Canadian snowfall, everything seemingly pandemic, feels torn apart. The soft glow of flurries converge with the reflective turmoil of motherhood, isolation, aging, identity and the weather of change. Unplanned and inspired by the serendipitous elements, the dancer’s emotions and union with self becomes complicit with finding peace in challenging times.

Concept, Director, Editor, Performer - Karen Kaeja

Composer - Grej (grejmusic.com)

It’s not often that a dance film makes it into the aviation industry entertainment system! Karen's film Clearing, has been chosen to screen on all UK Virgin Atlantic flights. This initiative is part of Women Over Fifty Film Festival (UK) WOFFF Dementia Friendly inflight entertainment programme. Clearing was shot during a lush Canadian snowfall on a melancholic day in 2020 at the Kaeja Creative Incubator. Karen is the director, performer, editor and camera.

"A beautiful dance with nature in troubled times. Exciting use of transitions, filters and cuts. A pleasure to watch." WOFFF Jury Member.
